It provides the information necessary to prepare the scientific advice on which to base management of the fisheries resources exploited by European fleets. The European framework governing this data collection is known as <a aria-label=\"DCMAP- Data Collection Multiannual Plan (abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/fisheries\/cfp\/fishing_rules\/data_collection_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DCMAP- Data Collection Multiannual Plan<\/a> (Commission Implementing Decision 2016\/1251 and Regulation 2017\/1004 of the European Parliament and of the Council).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AZTI is responsible for collecting data on the state of exploitation of the marine ecosystem and its resources, in relation to Basque fleets and the catches landed at Basque ports. In order to fulfil the obligations, set by the DCMAP, our work programme includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Sampling in port and at sea of the fishery variables (catches, effort, etc.) in commercial fishing, including the information collected by the fishing industry itself (fishing logs, 1st sale notes, etc.).<\/li><li>Sampling of biological parameters of species (length, weight, age, sex, maturity).<\/li><li>Carrying out scientific surveys at sea.<\/li><li>Sampling of marine recreational fishing.<\/li><li>Analysis of all the information collected and establishing annual sampling plans.<\/li><li>National and international coordination of sampling.<\/li><li>Collection of basic information for international working groups assessing stocks (catch at length, catch at age, etc.).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>We contribute, through analysis of scientific data, to sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources and
