This\nproject seeks to execute this programme and update it on the basis of the\nknowledge gained through its implementation. This would lead to the development\nof a cost-effective monitoring programme which can be sustained in the longer\nterm hence providing continuous flow of data and information for effective\nmanagement of the marine environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong>:&nbsp;The main&nbsp;objectives of this\nproject have therefore been defined as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Implementation\nof the marine monitoring programmes and updating of such programmes on the\nbasis of improved knowledge and application of a risk-based approach.<\/li><li>Development\nof database system supporting and integrating environmental data pertaning to\nthe marine environment as well as other relevant data from marine-related\nsectors.<\/li><li>Assessment\nof the environmental status of Malta\u2019s marine waters on the basis of the\nmonitoring data collected and proposing quantitative environmental targets to\nbe achieved trhough management processes.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"two-columns-content-right\">\n        <div class=\"related-members\">\n              \n\n    <article
