These ingredients provide a sustainable source of protein for nutraceuticals and reduce the dependency on fishmeal in aquaculture, contributing to the sustainability of the sector in the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the environmental and competitiveness benefits for the brewing and aquaculture industry, the implementation of this solution leads to an increased awareness of society towards environmental protection and efficient use of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"two-columns-content\">\n    <div class=\"two-columns-content-left\">\n        \n<div class=\"wp-block-azti-two-columns-content\">\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong><em>LIFE Environment\nand Resource Efficiency<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>programme<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;is an European Union financial instrument to support environmental\nand nature conservation projects and promotes sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Objetive<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of this project is to demonstrate the feasibility of an innovative,\nsustainable and integrated&nbsp;<em>Valorisation Scheme<\/em>&nbsp;to recover the brewer by-products in a representative EU producing\nregion as case study, through their up-grading at full scale as aqua-feed ingredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>What\nfor?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>An increase in\nthe Environmental Efficiency and Competitiveness of brewing sector by improving\nthe image of environmental protection and sustainable use of resources and by\nminimizing costs of waste management.<\/li><li>An increase in\nthe EU aquaculture Sustainability by providing 2 sustainable raw materials from\nspent grain and yeast for aquaculture feed which decrease the dependence of\nfish meal production.<\/li><li>Contribution to\nthe Society Awareness towards the environmental protection and efficient use of\nthe resources.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Expected\nresults<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2 new raw materials for aqua-feed (brewers\u2019 spent grain and yeast).<\/li><li>An Exploitation plan to recycles at least 95 % of by- products in the case study region (Spain).<\/li><li>Replication and Transference to 2 EU regions for recovering at least 85 % of by-products.<\/li><li>Reducing 25 % of the environmental impact associated with aqua-feed production by replacing at least 15 % of the fish meal.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Project\ntechnical phases<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Setting the Stakeholder table<\/li><li>Pre-industrial\noptimization of processes for obtaining meal &amp;
