results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A solution has been developed to calculate, verify and communicate the environmental impact of Mediterranean aquaculture products according to the European Product Environmental Footprint methodology.<br>With the implementation of the tool, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azti.es\/en\/productos\/aquapef-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aquapef software tool<\/a> will also make it possible to identify the causes and origins of the impacts, thus facilitating decision-making based on environmental criteria.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"two-columns-content\">\n    <div class=\"two-columns-content-left\">\n        \n<div class=\"wp-block-azti-two-columns-content\">\n<h2>Objective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Promote the implementation of the PEF\ninitiative and methodology into the Mediterranean aquaculture sector by\ndeveloping an integrative methodology and tool to facilitate data availability,\nfootprint calculation, veri\ufb01cation and B2B and B2C communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project will validate and demonstrate the\nusefulness of PEF methodology as an e\ufb00ective tool for\nenvironmental improvement of aquaculture products in an easy and comprehensive\nway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>Expected results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A\nstakeholder roundtable for the sustainability of the Mediterranean aquaculture.<\/li><li>New\ndataset for the Mediterranean aquaculture sector.<\/li><li>Easy-to-use\nsoftware tool for the EU product environmental footprint calculation.<\/li><li>List\nwith key potential environmental improvements actions and strategies.<\/li><li>New\necological indicator(s) to complement the PEF methodology.<\/li><li>Reduction\nof 7,695 ton CO2 within the project; around 2,531 m3 of water; 13,300 tonnes of\nfeed wastes and valorise 200 ton of biowastes within the project.<\/li><li>Validate\nthe PEF methodology in three aquaculture farms producing among the three 7,500\ntons of \ufb01sh.<\/li><li>New\ncommunication strategies to enhance competitiveness of aquaculture companies.<\/li><li>A\nreliable and e\ufb00ective communication plan of the environmental bene\ufb01ts. More than 5,000 consumers are\nexpected to interact with the project.<\/li><li>Awareness\nand empowerment material for the aquaculture companies and national\nassociations.<\/li><li>Replicability\nactions in 8 aquaculture farms.<\/li><li>Transference\nwebinar sessions, the solution to other Food PEF working groups<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
