and\naccelerate the shift towards collaborative short food supply chains and,\nthrough specific actions and recommendations, to introduce new robust business\nmodels and innovative practical solutions that enhance the competitiveness and\nsustainability of the European agri-food system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve this objective, SMARTCHAIN applies an\noverarching open innovation concept where the various actors involved in the\nproject are working together to make best use of complementary types of\nknowledge for the co-creation and diffusion of solutions ready to implement in\npractice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a combination of scientific and practical\nknowledge, SMARTCHAIN will analyse technological, regulatory, social, economic\nand environmental factors related with short food supply chains in order to\nassess the linkages and interactions among all stakeholders involved in the\nvalue chain and to identify the key parameters that influence sustainable food\nproduction and rural development among different regions in the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives and results of SMARTCHAIN will unlock\nthe potential for competitiveness and sustainability by
