Monitoring &#038; Reporting in European Fisheries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul><li>OptiFish Project: Enable fishers to become managers of the marine good.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/optifish.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OptiFish<\/a>, a pioneering co-funded Horizon Europe Project aiming at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azti.es\/en\/research-areas\/sustainable-fisheries-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enhancing sustainable fishing practices<\/a> by developing, testing, and validating cutting-edge, cost-effective technologies and tools for monitoring in the fishing industry, was successfully launched on February 1st, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>19 partners from 8 different countries were gathered at the kick-off meeting on the 18<sup>th<\/sup> and 19<sup>th<\/sup> of April 2024, hosted by the project\u2019s coordinator Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO) in Ostend, Belgium, to underscore a united commitment to revolutionize fisheries management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"705\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-1024x705.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37514\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-1024x705.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-768x529.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-450x310.jpg 450w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-900x620.jpg 900w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish-992x683.jpg 992w, https:\/\/old.azti.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/optifish.jpg 1118w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The OptiFish consortium is expert and innovation driven, bringing together 7 research institutes and universities, 7 technology companies, 2 producer\u2019s organisations, 2 government bodies and 1 non-profit organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, each partner had the opportunity to showcase their expertise and outline their role and forthcoming actions to the project. This collective approach set a strong foundation towards OptiFish growth, highlighting the diverse capabilities and shared goals of the consortium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Project is poised to set a new standard for sustainable fishing practices in the European seas. Through its innovative approach, it will provide fishers technologies and tools to operate more effectively and sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By integrating artificial intelligence and computer vision, the OptiFish project aims to enable precise, real-time species recognition and health assessments. These technologies will be crucial in reducing unwanted catches, preventing unreported fishing activities, and ensuring compliance with fishing regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the OptiFish Project will employ a series of five (5) pilot studies across various seas in Europe to test and validate its onboard technologies and system architectures in five (5) different types of fisheries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kick-off meeting triggered the dynamic start of the OptiFish project, emphasizing the combination of all partners scientific and technical skills and paving the way to innovation in marine environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OptiFish Project: Enable fishers to become managers of the marine good.
