{"id":31961,"date":"2023-01-27T10:00:46","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T09:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.azti.es\/regiones-por-el-clima-probando-nuevas-soluciones-a-los-riesgos-de-inundacion-y-erosion-en-la-costa-vascofrancesa\/"},"modified":"2023-01-27T12:18:05","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T11:18:05","slug":"regiones-por-el-clima-probando-nuevas-soluciones-a-los-riesgos-de-inundacion-y-erosion-en-la-costa-vascofrancesa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.azti.es\/en\/regiones-por-el-clima-probando-nuevas-soluciones-a-los-riesgos-de-inundacion-y-erosion-en-la-costa-vascofrancesa\/","title":{"rendered":"Regions for the climate: testing new solutions to flood and erosion risks on the French Basque Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul><li>The Agglomeration Community of the Basque Country is a partner in the European <a href=\"https:\/\/regions4climate.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regions4Climate<\/a> (R4C) project, which aims to test concrete cross-border solutions (environmental, social, technological, digital, governance) to climate change.<\/li><li>More than 3.5 million euros will be invested in the French Basque Country to address the risks of flooding and erosion along the Basque coastline.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Several partners are involved in this project: the Basque Coastal Scientific Interest Grouping, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suez.fr\/fr-fr\/notre-offre\/succes-commerciaux\/nos-references\/eaux-de-baignade-pays-basque\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rivages Pro Tech<\/a> research centre based at the Izarbel Technopolis in Bidart, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-pau.fr\/fr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Pau and the Pays Adour <\/a>and AZTI, a technology centre based in the Basque Country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The actions carried out locally will be of two types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Development of real-time flood risk monitoring tools, comprising the installation of coastal videometry systems and the development of numerical models aimed at predicting the overtopping of structures due to waves at two sites: one urban, the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and the other natural, the beach of Erromardie.<\/li><li>Active protection with the deployment of breakwaters and the reinforcement of natural wave energy dissipation barriers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" class=\"ez-toc-v2_0_33_2 counter-hierarchy ez-toc-counter ez-toc-transparent ez-toc-container-direction\">\n<div class=\"ez-toc-title-container\">\n<p class=\"ez-toc-title\">&Iacute;ndice de contenidos<\/p>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-title-toggle\"><a href=\"#\" class=\"ez-toc-pull-right ez-toc-btn ez-toc-btn-xs ez-toc-btn-default ez-toc-toggle\" style=\"display: none;\"><label for=\"item\" aria-label=\"Table of Content\"><i class=\"ez-toc-glyphicon ez-toc-icon-toggle\"><\/i><\/label><input type=\"checkbox\" id=\"item\"><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<nav><ul class='ez-toc-list ez-toc-list-level-1'><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-2'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-1\" href=\"https:\/\/old.azti.es\/en\/regiones-por-el-clima-probando-nuevas-soluciones-a-los-riesgos-de-inundacion-y-erosion-en-la-costa-vascofrancesa\/#An_essential_cross-border_dimension\" title=\"An essential cross-border dimension\">An essential cross-border dimension<\/a><\/li><li class='ez-toc-page-1 ez-toc-heading-level-2'><a class=\"ez-toc-link ez-toc-heading-2\" href=\"https:\/\/old.azti.es\/en\/regiones-por-el-clima-probando-nuevas-soluciones-a-los-riesgos-de-inundacion-y-erosion-en-la-costa-vascofrancesa\/#More_than_35_million_euros_invested_in_the_French_Basque_Country\" title=\"More than 3.5 million euros invested in the French Basque Country\">More than 3.5 million euros invested in the French Basque Country<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"An_essential_cross-border_dimension\"><\/span><strong>An essential cross-border dimension<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La dimensi\u00f3n transfronteriza de este proyecto es esencial, ya que la costa francesa y espa\u00f1ola que forman el litoral vasco presenta un conjunto de retos comunes. Por ello, se llevar\u00e1n a cabo acciones similares bajo la coordinaci\u00f3n del Gobierno Vasco e en colaboraci\u00f3n con los centros tecnol\u00f3gicos AZTI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tecnalia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a>y  con el objetivo de reforzar la colaboraci\u00f3n transfronteriza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cross-border dimension of this project is essential, as the French and Spanish coasts that make up the Basque coastline present a set of common challenges. Similar actions will therefore be carried out under the coordination of the Basque Government and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihobe.eus\/inicio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ihobe<\/a>, in collaboration with the AZTI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tecnalia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tecnalia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zabala.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zabala<\/a>,s, with the aim of strengthening cross-border collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_than_35_million_euros_invested_in_the_French_Basque_Country\"><\/span><strong>More than 3.5 million euros invested in the French Basque Country<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Regions4Climate project, which involves the CAPB, the Basque Coastal GIS, AZTI, UPPA and Rivages Pro Tech, will start in January 2023 and will run for five years.
